Columbus Premiere of Off-Beat Christmas Cult Hit Comedy
(Columbus, Ohio) Act Out Productions, in a joint effort with Interweave, a community group for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities, will present Jeff Goode's shadowy and off-beat Christmas Comedy, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues.
Directed and produced by recent Chicago transplant Dale Gregory, the show dates are as follows: Friday, November 29, Saturday, November 30 and the following week, Thursday, December 5, Saturday, December 7. There will be no performance on Friday, November 6.
Show times are 8:00 pm on all nights. The comedy, which includes bisexual and transgender characters, will be staged at The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus at 93 Weisheimer Road off of High Street in Clintonville (just north of Henderson Road). The play is not for children and contains adult language and situations. Tickets are all $15 and will be sold at the door. No reservations will be taken.
The church is also home for the group Interweave who regularly attend and support Act Out's productions. Interweave also helps the church in fundraisers that support its many community support programs such as feeding the homeless and various support groups. The show's Director, Dale Gregory, says "this is a great opportunity for us at Act Out in helping this group raise funds for the holiday season." The money made from the production is all going to the Church.
Playwright of The Eight, Jeff Goode, who is currently a writer for Disney and MTV in Los Angeles, is thrilled that the play is finally being produced here in Columbus, Ohio. Having worked together in theatre production in Chicago, Goode commented about his colleague and friend directing it, "Dale is a brilliant director and I can't wait to see what he does with this show."
Even though Columbus theatre groups have in the past performed selections of the comedy including CATCO and Shadowbox Cabaret, this will be the first time the play will be presented in Columbus in its entirety. The cast includes local actors Amy Bennett, Michael Parsons, Andy Scahill, Eric Ewing, Marie Kamara, Richard Napoli, Michael Wilson and Juliette McCawley.
Having been produced internationally, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues chronicles the times and troubles of the eight reindeer of yuletide fame. It's Frosty The Snowman meets The Addams Family. Visit the show's web site at www.theeight.com.

You just "think" you know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen. And not a shiny red nose to be seen. This adult comedy takes you to the chilly, backbiting inner recesses of the North Pole. Find out which reindeer is pressing charges against Santa; and which reindeer is out (and we don't mean outside!). If you've had your fill of traditional, feel-good Christmas fare, leave the kids at home and enjoy an antler-packed evening of acid-tongued reindeer.
"The Eight: Reindeer Monologues" features DC Cathro, Gené Fouche, Lee Hebb, Julie Herber, Tad Janes, David Norman, Melissa Powell and Sean Robinson.
The Eight: Reindeer Monologues contains adult language and situations and is recommended for ages 17 and above.

Allegations have been made. Will Santa take the
fall? Who's side will you be on? Is Vixen "the wench who stole Christmas" or
"the world's most famous victim?" And what REALLY happened to Rudolph? The Eight
share their perspectives, and a horrific tale of corruption and perversion
emerges, which seems to implicate everyone from the littlest elf to the tainted
Saint himself.
