Excerpt from a telephone conversation, February 23, 1999:
Basil's Mom: So what else is going on out there, sweetie?
Basil: Well, I'm directing a show.
Basil's Mom: Directing?! Really? That's wonderful! Where is it being done?
Basil: It's at Open Circle. You know, where I did, um-
Basil's Mom: Oh, that's right. THE NAKED KING, right? You just did that one.
Basil: Right, and THE SHADOW.
Basil's Mom: Yes, that's right. So is this one... what kind of show - is it similar, that same kind of...?
Basil: Um, not really, its....
Basil's Mom: What's it called?
Basil: Um...
Basil's Mom (aside to sister): Your brother's directing a show!
Basil: Hi Jess.
Basil's Mom: She says hi. Sha wants to know what it's called, too.
Basil: Uh, I'm not sure it's-
Basil's Mom: Oh! Your Father just walked in! Honey, Baz is going to be directing a show!
Basil: Hi Dad
Basil's Mom: Isn't that great? ! Okay, sorry honey. Now, what's the name of this show?
Basil: Um, well, it's called "The Adventures of Poona the Fuckdog"...
Basil's Mom: "The Adventures of..."
Basil: "and Other Stories for Children".
(silence)
Basil's Mom: So do you want to talk to your father?
