Maine Drama Festival at the Strom: schedule here

ROCKPORT (March 16, 2004): On March 5 and 6, more than 2,000 students from 80 schools competed at nine regional events for the right to advance to the Maine Drama Festival Finals. Twelve schools were selected to present plays March 19 and 20 at Camden Hills Regional High School's Strom Auditorium.

Two of those schools will be selected to represent Maine in the New England Drama Festival April 22, 23 and 24 (this year at Lawrence High School in Fairfield).

Performances are open to the public. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for students, with proceeds going to the Maine Principals' Association.

Performance schedule (Festival rules prohibit entry while a performance is in session. Latecomers will be admitted only between performances.)

Friday, 6 p.m.
Westbrook, "The Boys Next Door," by Tom Griffin.
South Portland, "Dear Emma," by Rhonda Carlson.
Rockland, "Variations on Friar John's Failure," by Yuri Baranovsky.
Caribou, "Feiffer's People," by Jules Feiffer.

Saturday, 11:30 a.m.
Yarmouth, "Cleveland," by Mac Wellman.
Camden Hills, "Ubu Roi," by Jeff Goode.
Lawrence, "Tattercoats," by Jeff Watts.
Bonny Eagle, "Shh...," by BEHS students.

Saturday, 6 p.m.
Hermon, "Pals," by David Perkins.
Waterville, "Where's Ubu?" by Jeff Goode.
Madison, "The Life and Death of Tom Thumb the Great," by Henry Fielding.
Falmouth, "The Good Doctor," by Neil Simon.
