Amador High students win awards

The advanced drama students at Amador High School presented a program of solo acting this past October and awards were given out for first, second and third place.

The students had to give a monologue from one contemporary and one classical play. They were judged on believability and contrast by judges Sue Haldane, Tracy Parker, Elizabeth Penotti, Armin Kendig and Nick Ragusano.

The winners were:

In the girls category:

First place - Kittra Carter for Moliere's "Tartuffe" and Mark Dunn's "Belles"

Second place - Kelly Marshall for William Shakespeare's "King Henry VI, Part II and Jean-Claude Van Itallie's "America Hurrah"

Third place - Nina Dudak for William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and Karen Hensel's "Going To See the Elephant"

In the boys category:

First place - Ben Summers for William Shakespeare's "King Henry V" and Jeff Goode's "The Un-Xmas Story"

Second place - Bryan Tari for William Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice" and Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues"

Third place - Max Bassett for William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and S. Morgenstern's "The Princess Bride"

The first and second place winners in both categories will go on to compete in the State competitions at Sacramento State University in January.
