The Eight Reindeer Monologues

Jeff Goode's comedy about the less famous Santa flyers

Critic's Pick

Monologues Happy holiday-ites might not be familiar with playwright Jeff Goode's 1994 North Pole-set comedy, but the subject matter is very Jerry Springer Show, even if the victims are elves and reindeer. In this sexually dark drama, Santa is accused of hanky-panky by one of his antlered employees, and the nasty airing of reindeer laundry brings out the dreaded media. Another hero shot in the pants? Hear the evidence from the eight other members of the sleigh team during the three days of intensive productions at the fledgling Breakthrough Theatre in Winter Park. Excellent comedic talent fills the cast, including Chris Prueitt, Jeff Lindberg, Robyn Pedretti Kelly, Janine Klein and a special appearance by Christian Kelty. (8 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday at Breakthrough Theatre, 419A W. Fairbanks Ave., Winter Park; 407-920-4034; www.breakthroughtheatre.com)
