(Enter Narrator with a friend.)

Narrator Well, this is where I'm supposed to tell you about the passage of time, and some things the White Knight did in the mean time. But I thought you'd like to meet my friend Kristi instead.

Hi, Kristi, and welcome to the narration.4

Friend Hi, Chris, it's nice to be here.

Narrator So tell us about yourself. What do you do?

Friend Nothing really. I'm a kid.

Narrator Just a kid, huh? Wouldn't you rather be over in the Middle East or Europe killing rebel soldiers or something?

Friend No, that sounds dangerous.

Narrator But isn't being a kid boring and unfulfilling?

Friend I don't know. Sometimes it's fun. I'm in this play right now.

Narrator Tell us about that.

Friend Well, I play one of the White Knight's assistants in the next5 scene.

Narrator Now, doesn't that make you angry?

Friend What?

Narrator Well, you're obviously a gifted young actor. Don't you think they should have cast you as the White Knight?

Friend I dunno.

Narrator Isn't this a waste of your talents?

Friend Well, I kind of like being the assistant. It's a fun scene. And I like the costume.

Narrator Yeah, but, come on, wouldn't you rather be a member of the nobility and ride a horse and have your name in the title?

Friend Not really.

Narrator (feigning astonishment:) You're telling me you don't secretly want to be the White Knight?

Friend No, he's kind of a dork.

(Narrator turns to the audience with an "I told you so" smirk.)

Narrator See?

Friend And I don't think he ever finds that horse.
