Shamanism
Shamanism sees that spirit exists within all things. If spirit exists within all things - then all things are alive. All things alive possess a beat, a pulse, a rhythm. So dance some unique form of expression. They sing some unique song. There is art then in sharing moments of beauty with living things.
Our Intent
Our work seeks to embrace the expression of all life as sacred through the arts - but most particularly dance.
Deep within each one of us resides an amazing creator - Kokopelli simply opens the space where we can remember our dreaming, our potential, our magic - and dance it, sing it, chant it, move it into life.
When we learn to listen to the natural world, we can marry ourselves with the spirit of all else and enter communion. In touching forgotten songs of stars, of earth, of trees, of moon - Somewhere we remember how to step in time with the rhythms of life.
In this way our dance becomes a prayer in motion. As a multitude dances, a single prayer becomes an act of co-creation. This act we need to reclaim.
Between us we can dance miracles.
Our Work
So far we have served Venues and Festivals in London, Suffolk, Sussex, Surrey and Cornwall. Our audiences have ranged between 18 months to 80 years. We have touched more than 3,500 people with our work in performance alone in our first 2 years.
We turn more and more to the personal dance and collective experience. Residentials, Workshops and Dance events that are open to all grow rapidly and currently visit London, Brighton, Wales and Suffolk. We look forward to travelling further afield to Italy in October '98 and South Africa in 1999.
Concerned with being actively creative within the community, Kokopelli is now linking with movements such as Earth Spirit, Global Synergy and Charities such as S.A.C.C.A.A to work through the millennium.
