The Source Theatre Company was founded in 1977 and is one of Washington DC's
oldest small professional theaters. It is also the first arts organization
to locate itself on the 14th street corridor which was torn apart during the
1968 riots. More acclaimed local actors, directors, and playwrights have gotten
their start at Source than at any other local theatre. Source is also the
recipient of the Mayor's Arts Award for Excellence in Service to the Arts.
