FADE IN

EXT. MAIN STREET, MAYBERRY - DAY

AUNT BEE is taking lunch to Andy at the courthouse, when
she runs into CLARA EDWARDS on the street.

                                      CLARA
Bee! Bee, there you are. I've been
                          looking all over.

                                      AUNT BEE
Oh, hello, Clara. What's the matter?

                                      CLARA
That's what I was going to ask you. I
heard you had words with Ethel Bixby at
                          the lady's auxiliary on Saturday.

                                      AUNT BEE
Oh, that. She had a bone to pick
because she overheard me telling Myrna
                          Jenkins something she thought her
husband discussed with Doc Bailey in
                          the strictest confidence.

                                      CLARA
Oh, my. What did you say to that?

                                      AUNT BEE
I told her if she wasn't such a
busybody, she wouldn't know what people
were saying behind her back in the
                          first place!

                                      CLARA
                          Oh, Bee, you're terrible.

                                      AUNT BEE
Well, it's true. A little gossip never
                          hurt anyone.

                                      CLARA
                          You're right about that.

Aunt Bee turns down a side street --

               EXT. ALLEY

               Clara tags along with her.

                                      CLARA
Aren't you going to the courthouse?

                                      AUNT BEE
I always cut through the alley on the
way there. You never know what you'll
overhear out the back of Floyd's barber
                          shop.

They both giggle like school girls, but their laughter
abruptly halts when they come upon -- a dead body lying
face down in a puddle of blood.

                                      AUNT BEE & CLARA
                          Oh my.
